Bay Area boss Richie Rich is one of the original game spitters in hip hop. He entered the music scene in 1989 with his group 415 and by 1990 was ready to sign a major label deal with Priority Records. Plans were derailed when Rich was arrested for cocaine possesion. Rich soon resurfaced and was the first Bay Area rapper to sign with Def Jam in 96'. Doreen Broadnax, aka “Sparky D”, was born in Brownsville Brooklyn, NY. While in her teenage years she would be introduced to rap music.

With producer Spyder D, Sparky D would create "Sparky's Turn - Roxanne Your Through" a record that challenged the then “Queen of Hip Hop” Roxanne Shante.
