Interview with Tha Chill - part 4
02-05-10 02:04

Billy Danze [of M.O.P] is trying to reach out to you and Eiht about doing a song…

Aw, that’s dope! That’s politically correct right there. Them dudes is raw for the East Coast and we’re raw for the West you know what I mean? That’s the East Coast CMW to me. And we’re the west Coast M.O.P you know what I mean? That’s like a Chuck and a Sock man. Slide that dude my number man and with technology being what it is today we can do a whole record. M.O.P, CMW that would be real big.

For sure. I put them in touch with South Central Cartel about a record and they’re trying to reach more out there…

That’s big. You know I produced the whole Above The Law record, the new Above The Law record that’s about to come out, and those dudes are open to anything [of that nature]. We just trying to make the right moves on this end and stay active as well as school the youngsters on they history.

No doubt.  You got a single coming out for the new project?

Yea, I got the joint we’re going to run with right now, it’s called ‘Have That Money Right” and it’s with me and MC Ren produced by me with my boy Bokie Loc on the hook. A totally west coast sound, it got the melodies to it – a whole Curtis Mayfield feel to it. I wanted to keep it musical but at the same time it’s NWA meets CMW, you know what I mean? People would say that I’m the under-dog of CMW and that Ren is the underdog from NWA and we gonna get it in one more time.

That’s what’s up. Your man Dizzee from Ugly Duckling was out here a few weeks ago…

Man, that’s my family member right there.

Yea, he used to be your driver [during CMW]

Yea, would you believe I started that dude rapping? We went to school together – he was just that white dude on some smoking weed, running around and kicking it and wanting to hang with black dudes you know what I mean? He is what he is he ain’t tryna be nothing else and never been nothing else. I’m the first dude that ever took him to a hood, you know? Showed him guns. We’d sit back in his garage at his moms and write raps. You know he was in Eiht’s first video – “This Is Compton” – an old black and white [video] and that’s Dizzee, Dizzee from Ugly Duckling in that video looking like a gangsta with all black on.

I been looking for Dizzee, he don’t stay that far from me but he’s always gone. But I’m definitely gonna get it in with the Ugly Ducklings, I have to. I respect that kind of rap, man, it’s an art. I really respect what he’s doing and I’m really happy for him because he’s doing tours and seeing a whole different side of life [thanks to Hiphop] and I feel like I’m a big part of that, you know what I mean?  Dizze go hard. Dizzee Duck go hard, that’s my boy. Dustin Troy McFarlan [laughs] we know each other like brothers. His moms, his pops, I know his sister – everybody. My mom and pops still call him son.

No doubt. What else is on the horizon for yourself?

Just concentrating on this ‘Chillafornia’ record. It’s the blueprint to my legacy that I’m tryna do as my own entity as Chill from Compton’s Most Wanted; getting ready for my group – I’ve already been in production with that, Wanted Gang. Looking forward to doing another CMW record, just keeping my chops you, you know? Just doing a lot of producing man. Producing Kurupt’s young group called G Hood, I’m over seeing that project. Sir Jinx – he rapping, I did a couple of beats for him and we’re talking about doing a producers record – Me, Sir Jinx, BattleCat and Rhythm D. You know? Like some European shit, like some Kraftwerk shit but it’s gonna be real tight.
