H2C2 and Ralph McDaniels present "Emcee to Emcee", a bi-weekly event that showcases NY underground artists in an intimate setting that represents Hip Hop at its best, at the Hip Hop Culture Center.
Every other Tuesday three emcees will have the opportunity to perform a selection of their greatest work. At the beginning of each song the artist will give a brief statement that explains the motivation behind the track. In addition, the artist will take questions from the audience comprised of mainly emcees. There will also be a music producer and musicians in house whose instrumentals will be featured in a cipher conducted by the crowd.
To add exclusivity to the event H2C2 will spotlight a true school artist who will make commentary and bring flavor to the house. To conclude the function a classic Hip Hop video from Video Music Box's archive will be played, followed by a Q & A or freestyle session. General admission is $5 for emcees and $20 for civilians. A member of H2C2's Rapathon Alumni will be stationed at the door to enforce this (and yes they will make you rhyme but it's all in good fun).
The purpose of "Emcee to Emcee" is to offer underground artists an outlet to perform and share their passion for music with like-minded individuals. Every show will be documented by the notable Ralph McDaniels (creator of Video Music Box) and streamed live via www.ustream.com/onfumes. Spectators will have the option to purchase a DVD or CD of the event on site. On August 3rd, 2010 from 7:30-9:30pm H2C2 will be shooting a pilot for the show that will be open to the general public. To RSVP send an email to h2c2center@gmail.com.
The first official "Emcee to Emcee" takes place Tuesday, August 17th, 2010 from 7:30pm – 9:30pm. The address is 2309 Frederick Douglass Blvd., New York, NY 10027 (2nd Fl. of Magic Johnson Theater). They are accessible by A, B, C, D, 2 and 3 trains.
