Now, Billy Danze of M.O.P, while dealing with his new found independence, has decided it’s time to unleash his solo album – ‘Behind Gatez’ – on the world. “You can take it different ways” Danze explains, “Out here in Brooklyn and over there in New Zealand you got the whole ‘Everybody against us’ kind of thing. You know what I’m saying? It’s like we’re all behind this one gate, then there’s the rest of the world. And basically, your man Bill Danze a.k.a Bill Gates you know, I got a few dudes behind me, a few dudes behind Gates so we pushing forward.”
A few dudes is an understatement; Billy Danze’s debut solo album boasts an incredible line up both on vocals and on the production side of things: “I got Busta… Busta Rhymes just sent me a joint the other day. I sent him the beat like about a week ago, he sent me the vocals back a couple days ago. When I tell you it’s incredible my dude, it’s incredible. I ran in to Rakim. I went to see him perform a couple of days ago – I had to go, Rakim is like God to me – I actually got to speak to him, so he’s agreed to get on the album. [Young] Buck is supposed to make an appearance, Lil’ Fame of course. The boy Teflon, we got the NYGZ - Premier’s new group. Of course production from Premier, D.R Period, my man Money Mark from out in Queens, my 12 year old son is actually on the album – He’s 13 now, but when we did the record he was actually 12. The line up is good enough for me, but I haven’t even finished yet! I got my boy Ice T on there, production from the Heatmakers, of course Fame doin production for the album, you know I got hard records man. I always keep it close, I’m not going out of my lane to get no features or whatever. I’m comfortable with the people I chose to be on the album I know they’re going to bring 100% to be on the album..”
“I’m feeling great right now and that ain’t even making no money back from this shit right now. I’m putting all my money into this, all day this is what I do – ‘Behind Gatez’. Nothing else but ‘Behind Gatez’. It’s all coming together nicely, brother.”
