BET Networks is unveiling their first original music documentary special, which will feature the ladies of hip-hop. "My Mic Sounds Nice: A Truth About Women and Hip-Hop" is set to take an in-depth role of female rappers in the industry.

According to BET, the documentary will be an "appealing, inside look at how women have affected rap music, and in turn how rap music affects female MCs of past and present."

It will serve as a commentary for how hip-hop music is influenced by women and vice versa, examining gender-specific differences in artistry, marketing, promotion and economics. It will also explore why there are fewer female than male rappers in the industry.

Stephen Hill, President of Music Programming and Specials, said, "This is a story that could not be told by one voice. It required a chorus. And although this story is comprehensive, it is still likely one of many truths about the role of women in hip-hip."

The documentary will feature revealing interviews with MC Lyte, YoYo, Rah Digga, Missy Elliott, EVE, Trina, Questlove, and hip-hop moguls Jermaine Dupri, Russell Simmons, Kevin Liles and more.

"My Mic Sounds Nice: A Truth About Women and Hip-Hop" will premiere this Monday, August 30 on BET.
