New single released from Phife Dawg's upcoming solo album

New single released from Phife Dawg's upcoming solo album

It's been almost a year since Phife Dawg passed away unexpectedly at the age of forty-five, and while his absence continues to be felt, fans can at least look forward to the posthumous release of the Five Foot Assassin's new album, which will be named "Forever."

Phife Dawg passed away last year on March 22nd, due to complications from diabetes. Later in 2016, A Tribe Called Quest released their final album We got it from Here... Thank You 4 Your servicewhich was recorded before Phife's untimely passing. The album topped the Billboard 200 sales charts, and received nearly unanimous rave reviews from critics and fans alike.

During A Tribe Called Quest's politically charged performance at the 2017 Grammy Awards this past weekend, the band, along with frequent collaborator Busta Rhymes, performed in front of a banner portraying their fallen band mate and friend.

Yesterday it was announced that Phife Dawg's next solo album, which is expected to release sometime within the first half of 2017, will be entitled "Forever." A new single, entitled "Wanna Dance," which features soul singer Dwele, was also released yesterday. The new track is the lead single off of the upcoming album.

You can stream "Wanna Dance" on Youtube here. The song is also available as a free download from the Soul Brokerz music collective's website.
