Joseph Simmons, Darryl McDaniels, and Jason Mizzell form Run-DMC, and together the critically-acclaimed rap group garnered notoriety as one among the hip-hop scene’s most influential and innovative acts throughout its history.
Rallied alongside the likes of LL Cool J, The Beastie Boys, and Public Enemy, Run-DMC played a significant role in ushering in a new school of rap music in its time, and became the first group in the scene to attain certified RIAA-Gold (Run-DMC, 1984), as well as the first hip-hop act able to attract a Grammy nomination.
