Yo! MTV Raps trading cards and the Legacy of Kool Moe Dee

“My lyrics are always gonna have some substance, so that after the dancing stops there’ll be something to think about. I want to raise people’s consciousness,” says Mohandas Dewese, better known as Kool Moe Dee, and as written on the #128 edition included on the Yo! MTV Raps ProSet Super Stars MusiCards collection.

Kool Moe Dee first rose among the hip-hop ranks in the late 1970s, releasing hits like “How Ya Like Me Now,” “Rock Steady,” and “Rise N Shine” featuring KRS-One and Chuck D to name a few. Moe Dee was also one among the first rap artists to garner a Grammy nomination, attain the award, and the first to perform at the star-studded event.
